Pita Chips and Hummus Dip شيبس الخبز مع الحمص

الاحظ ان عيالي يحبون التغميسات خصوصة لاكل المدرسة، بالنسبة لي الحمص من التغميسات المفضلة عندي لانها صحية قليلة الدهون وعالية في البروتين وجدا طعمه لذيذ ومستاغ للصغار. وعلشان تكون اكل التغميسة اكثر متعة قصيت الخبز بقطاعات باشكال مختلفة تغيير. الطريقة جدا بسيطة، اولا قصيتهم بالقطاعات وبعدها دهنتم بزيت الزيتون وممكن اضافة بعض من الثوم المدقوق والكمون او الاعشاب اللي تفضلونها لتضييف نكهة للخبز، دخلت الخبز بعد دهنة بالفرن لمدة تقريبا ١٥ دقيقة اولما صار ناشف شوي ومقرمش.

My kids love dips and they like crackers, and who doesn’t? I personally think that hummus is one of the healthiest and most delicious dips out there! Its low in fat and high in protein. Here is an easy way to make eating humus even more fun. Here I used different shaped cookie cutters that I got from LakeLand in Kuwait and I brushed them with some store bought flavored olive oil but you can add you own flavoring to it by using some crushed garlic and herbs. Then stick it in the oven for about 15 min or till it runs crispy.

Hubby’s Fluffy Pancake Recipe وصفة البانكيك

بعد تجارب وايد هذي افضل وصفة بانكيك تعلمتها من زوجي. واستخدمت هالمرة القالب على شكل وجه مبتسم. اذا بتستخدمون قالب نفس ما انا سويت يفضّل تخففون الخليط بإضافة شوية حليب زيادة ونغطي المقلاة بعد ما نحط الخليط. وإذا بتسوون البانكيك بالطريقة التقليدية تابعوا خطوات الوصفة.

المقادير:

كوب ونصف طحين ذاتي التخمير

ملعقة شاي بيكربونات الصودا

ملعقة شاي بايكينغ باودر

ربع كوب سكر

بيضة وحدة

واحد وربع كوب حليب

رشة ملح

ربع كوب زبدة ذائبة

الطريقة:

تخلط المقادير الجافة ثم نخلط البيض والحليب والزبدة ونضيفهم الى المقادير الجافة ونخلطهم جيدا.

تسخن مقلاة على نار هادية مدهونة بالقليل من الزبدة ونصب ربع كوب من خليط البانكيك ولما تتكون فقاعات على سطح البانكيك نقلبها الى ان يصير اللون ذهبي شوي.

This is a super fluffy melts in your mouth pancake recipe that I got from my husband. We love making pancakes in the weekend and try new recipes after so many trials this is our best!

I used Crack-a-smile egg/pancake mold from Fred that I also sell on my Insta store @bentomommy.shop if you are going to use a mold like I did make sure to cover the pan so the top part will dry fast and it won’t make a mess when flipping the pancake.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup self rising flour

1 teaspoon baking sofa

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1 1/4 cup milk

a pinch of salt

1/4 cup butter, melted

combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into milk. Pour wet ingredients into flour mixture and wisk until lumps gone.

Heat large skillet over medium heat, and coat with butter. Pour 1/4 cup of batter into skillet and cook until you see bubbles on top on the pancakes and filp, wait until other side is golden.

To use this pancake mold you need to spray it nicely with a no stick butter spray.

DIY Kitty Pizza Recipe وصفة عجينة البيتزا

طريقة وايد سهلة وسريعة حق عجينه البيتزا المفضلة عندي

المقادير:
ملعقتين صغار خميرة فورية
ملعقة طعام سكر
كوب ماء دافيء
٢ ونصف كوب طحين
ملعقة شاي ملح
٤ ملاعق طعام زيت زيتون

الطريقة؛
نسخن الفرن على ٢٣٠ درجة. نخلط السكر مع الخميرة في الماي الدافئ ونتركهم لمدة تقريبا خمس دقايق.
نضيف خليط الخميرة مع الطحين والملح ونضيف ٤ ملاعق زيت الزيتون ونعجن.
نغطي العجينة ونتركها ترتاح لمدة تقريبا نصف ساعة.
نفرد العجينة ونقطعها بقطاعات على شكل دائرة للوجه وقلب للإذن ونحط عليها صلصة البيتزا والجبن وندخلها الفرن لمدة وبعد تقريبا ١٥ الى ٢٠ دقيقة تكون جاهزة ونزينها بالزيتون الاسود وصلصة البيتزا والجبن.

Quick and easy pizza crust
Ingredients:

2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 table spoon sugar
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tea spoon salt
4 table spoons olive oil

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 230 degrees c. In medium bowl dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

2. Stir in flour, salt and oils. Beat until smooth. Let rest for half and hour.
3. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and roll, use a circle cookie cutter to cut the dough in circles and use small heart shaped cookie cutters for the ears.

4. Put the ears and the face together, spread with pizza sauce, sprinkle with cheese and Bake for 20 minutes. You can use black olives for the eyes before or after baking.

5. Take it out of the oven and add some whiskers out of cheese and ketchup for the mouth.

Valentine’s Day Cookies

I made these sugar cookies for school. They were so easy and fun to make. You really don’t need to be an expert to make them, you don’t even need special tools other than the cookies cutters and if you don’t have cookie cutters you can cut any shape you want with a sharp knife.  I just used a spoon to spread the icing. I didn’t want to worry so much about making them look perfect, I didn’t want to stress myself because I had to make a lot of them for my both kids’ classes.

For the icing I used icing sugar with a little bit of milk and a little bit of light corn syrup and your choice of liquid food coloring. If you make it too think it will be hard to spread.

 

Snoopy and Woodstock Bento

Okay.. again I decided to make a simple bento.. I’m taking things easyyyy I don’t want to stress myself into making the “perfect” bento!! This one is simple nothing complicated no cutting required!! Making onigiris (rice balls) is so easy, you can shape them very easily into any shape you want just like playing with play-doh. All you need is a bowl of  salted water next to you to make sure your hands are always wet so the rice doesn’t stick to them, or you can put the rice on a plastic wrap and wrap the rice with it then shape it, but when you’re done don’t forget to wet your hands to hold the onigiri after you unwrap it. Here I shaped Snoopy with my hands then I got lazy so I used a bell pepper for Woodstock!! ohhh but wait why isn’t he yellow!! :/ The bell pepper looked yellow at the store but when I got home.. hmmm not so yellow!! Looks like he got a tan! Its too sunny and hot here in Kuwait. ;p

Three Little Piggies Bento

I love making pigs bentos because they’re simple and easy to make which gives me time to focus on the little details. I colored the rice using beetroots and used tofu dogs for the noses and ears. I didn’t eat the tofu dogs and never will, although I love normal tofu, but these smelled and looked like real hotdog, real meat!! If you like hotdogs, but have high cholesterol, tofu dogs have zero cholesterol!! Just one down side is that I can’t use them for making a hotdog flower as it doesn’t open up like the real hotdogs do when you boil them! Oh and that on the top right is not a checkered apple its peach, so much easier to cut than apples. I used a special knife this time I Just got from Daiso, it really helped!!

I woke up 4am this morning to make the bentos!!

Garfield Bento

 

So for today I made a Garfield bento! The theme of this week bento was suppose to be a surprise for the kids but my daughter peeked on me in the kitchen and found out, not only that, she also told her brother about it!! :/

For the rice I mixed carrots puree with cooked sushi rice. I didn’t get the color right because I was worried if I add more carrots my boy won’t like it. I also used for Garfield pasta sheet, boiled eggs for the eyes (I love them!!), sea weed, some black sesame seeds and  strawberry for the nose.

I’m trying to use less meat in the kids bentos, at least I don’t use meat just to decorate, I know I’m using eggs and cheese and I should feel guilty about that too but I don’t feel as guilty when serving eggs and dairy products to my family. Let’s see how long that will last. 😛 But for me I think I will stay vegan forever and ever, I just love how I feel.. I feel light, healthy and it also improved my karma!! 😉

I’m Back!!

I’m so excited that I’m finally blogging about my bentos. I wanted to do that for sooooo looo0ong. I’m so happy with my blog design, I know the header might be a little bigger than usual but I wanted a lot of stuff on it! A BIG thank you to the talented forevertulip – Cindy Jane for a beautiful blog design you are so talented!! I’m glad that I’m finally back after a very long break. Finally school is back and I’m back to bentoing and will try to be a good girl and post here on a weekly basis and will try my best to be consistent. I will try to make interesting bentos that are worth posting every Thursday,  and what about for the rest of the school days?? well, my kids can live on heart and star shaped sandwiches!! ;p

Now about this bento.. I steamed and pureed green peas and spinach and mixed it with the rice to create the green color. I usually only do it with spinach and sometimes I add some shredded cheese but it was the first time I add green pees and I was so happy that my kids liked it specially that the day before on dinner I was begging them to eat their peas and they were acting like if I was asking them to eat green bunny poo ;/!! Anyways the kids loved the bento and were so happy although my daughter couldn’t tell it was a frog :s!!
